Control Room Monitored CCTV

Intruder Alarms - King Communications

In this configuration an external organization is responsible for the security of a remote site using secure CCTV technology to receive events and alerts. Once an event has been received the monitoring station will manage the next steps of the process, which may include contacting the police and notifying key holders for the site. This pro-active approach allows real time security surveillance of a site and can also include interactive response from the control room to ensure maximum coverage of the site 365 days a year.

By doing this it will take away the reponsibility of CCTV monitoring from the client and put this to a specialist who is approved to perform the remote monitoring. The advantage of this firstly is cost as the client does not require to pay a security guard to watch the CCTV system. Secondly the Monitoring stations are approved and audited by external bodies for their procedures and the ability of the staff.

The control room will also provide additional services such as First Response on site to an incident and act as the first response key holder of the client site. They will then escalate to the client if the situation requires. This takes away some of the out of hours responsibility for the client site for a very reasonable call out rate.

How Does it Work ?

CCTV is installed with alarm input devices such as external passive infra-red devices or from movement detection on one or more of teh site cameras. These devices generate an alert in the CCTV control unit and send the event to the Alarm Receiving Center (ARC) via either ISDN or Broadband Internet connection. The ARC will receive the event, review the video and then take the appropriate action, which could be one or all of the following:

  • Request Police Response
  • View Live Video
  • Control CCTV system
  • Warn off the intruders with Live audio to the site
  • Attend the site & contact Keyholders
  • Record Video as evidence

Images from the camera’s are also stored locally on the hard disk of the CCTV system and reviewed locally as required.

Applications

This secure solution has many applications and is flexible enough to deal with many situations. Below is a small sample of the some uses of using this type of CCTV with control room monitoring.

Perimeter Protection

This type of configuration allows greater perimeter protection of a building to help prevent burglary vandalism and to protect the staff. The CCTV and Passive infra-red detectors and motion detectors of the cameras can create an invisible perimeter around a building. Once this is broken, alerts will be sent to the monitoring centre who can then view images and take appropriate action.

Staff Attack

Panic buttons and staff attack systems can be linked into the central monitoring system. This will allow any events to be sent to the control room who can then assess and take action.

System Convergence

This type of CCTV system can be linked into other electronic systems such as Fire & Intruder Alarms; Access Control & Staff attack systems. As in the other applications Alerts can be sent to the control room for further action 365 days per year. This can be especially useful in Fire alarm installations.

Control of Devices On-Site

This type of system will allow control of devices on-site from the control room such as electronic gates. This can also be linked into the access control system to activate doors etc.

Advantages

  • Cost effective when compared with on-site security services.
  • Prevent damage and break-in before they happen utilising perimeter protection.
  • Save on Company Insurance costs.
  • Vigilant 24 Hours per day, 365 days per year.
  • Centralised management of Multiple sites.
  • Appropriate, pro-active and fast intervention by specialised trained staff.
  • Diffusion of situations before escalation to loss, damage or violence.
  • Evidence quality video and audio recording.
  • Protection of staff, customers, stock & assets.
